Lacy Candles

All right, I know you're probably thinking "This chick has WAY to much time on her hands!", and I'd have to say you're right! Until school starts on Monday, I am a freebird, able to do a many crafts as I'd like :)

Well, in a previous post, I showed you a candle, and I decided to make a few more. I went a slightly different route this time.

The supplies used were:

  • Pasta Sauce Jars
  • Tulle
  • Lace
  • Ribbon
  • Adhesive Spray
  • Tea Light Candles

This was an extremely simple project. All I did, was cut
a strip of tulle (I used gray and purple) for the center
then added an overlay of lace.

I added a little ribbon for fun!

I'm in love with the outcome. The sheerness of the tulle is
wonderful, and just a little bit of color really adds to the effect.

Heart Ring x2

I couldn't help myself, I had to make another ring after the first one was so successful! I love gold and I've seen the double heart ring before so I thought I'd give it a try!

Now to make a new design I haven't seen before!

Heart Ring!

As I was stumbling upon pinterest I came across a wonderful tutorial on how to make a heart ring out of wire. I immediately fell in love and had to try it! I put my own little twist on it because my wire was much thinner than the wire used in the tutorial. Have a look-sy!

Oh and here is the original tutorial :)

http://maizehutton.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-make-wire-heart-finger-ring.html

I used a 26 gauge wire and a 3-in-one plier.

I cut three strips of the wire in the same length.

Then, I twisted the end and braided the wires together.

This is how it should look when you are finished braiding.

I shaped it into the ring using the tutorial, and voila!
I love it! It'll be a nice addition to my collection.

Gift making ideas

I love finding things around the house that can be repurposed. For Xmas I decided to make one of my best friends a candle, a frame, and some tasty margarita mix and glass set. The margarita mix was already made, but I still had to figure out what to do for the candle and frame. I always save pasta sauce jars and I was excited to finally find something to do with them.

For the jars, the only supplies you would need are:
  • Pasta Sauce Jar
  • Paint
  • Paint brush
  • Lace
  • Ribbon
  • Tea Light Candle

Make sure your jar is clean! You have to get all of the adhesive
off before you start to paint!

I started off by pain two coats of the silver metallic paint
to only the middle section of the jar.

After it was dried, I used the spray adhesive to glue
the cut lace onto the painted area. I had already cut the
lace prior to painting the jar. I made it a bit longer so
that the lace would go beyond the top a bit.

Lastly, I cut a piece of ribbon and tied a little bow
around the top of the jar, and dropped a tea light
into the jar. And viola! Candle complete!

For the frame, the only supplies you would need are:
  • Picture Frame (any frame)
  • Scrap Paper
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Computer w/printer

The frame was simple, I used word to write the saying that
I preferred then printed it on cardstock paper so it would
be more sturdy. I cut the saying out and put it on the scrap
paper and framed it. This was the simplest idea ever!

Needless to say, she loved her gifts! I didn't want to take a pic
of the candle lit because I was giving it away, but I will make
another one soon so I can show it off.

Valentine Cupcakes

So I've already shared my love of cupcakes with you, and I fond another photo of some I made for Valentine's Day last year. I made them for my now, ex-boyfriend, and his coworkers. He works at a hospital so from time to time I take my baked goodies over there. Mostly for random holidays. Anyway, here's a pic of the cupcakes. I can't remember what flavor they are, I'm guessing red velvet because I seem to remember him saying he loved that flavor the most (oh, and the fact that there is a box of red velvet cake mix in the background...I guess I cheated and didn't make them by scratch this time...oops!).

Cupcake Fun

So for the past  year I have been obsessed with making and decorating cupcakes. I love trying new recipes and have found little quirks to make the cupcakes healthier and still taste good. I only use whole wheat flower, egg whites, and applesauce instead of oil. I don't eat my own cupcakes, because I lack a sweet tooth, but everyone loves them! Here are a few that I have made recently...

These were for my cousins 2nd bday. They are Red Velvet.
I used a cream cheese frosting and marshmallows for decorating.

These were for my best friends 25th bday. They are banana cupcakes
(they tasted a lot like banana nut bread) with a vanilla creme frosting.
I used marshmallows and edible pearls for the design.

These were for Halloween. The eyeball cupcakes were Pumpkin Spice
with a Vanilla hazelnut creme. The candy corn cupcakes were Apple
Cinnamon with a Vanilla creme frosting topped with Cinnamon.

These were for Easter. They are Chocolate Carrot flavor with a
Vanilla creme frosting and  Peanut Butter and Chocolate eggs.

It's a masquerade...

For New Years Eve this year, a few friends and I stayed low-key and went to a dive bar near our house called Fitzgerald's. Even though we weren't going to a club we decided to dress up and make a theme of it. I created masquerade masks for us, and this is how they turned out.
